A white Horse found at the RMR

“What?” you may ask yourself now. “Why would there be an animal at our school?” That is actually a good question. But no worries: I will explain everything.

Yesterday the theatre group White Horse arrived at our school to perform their play. The great thing about that is that it’s a cool break from everyday school life and you can improve your English too because the actors and actresses are from Brighton and barely speak German. Which means they are also performing in English. My class watched the play “Dreaming in English” today and now I’ll share my opinion on the performance. I found it really interesting that the whole play was performed with one set which could be easily rotated and used as another prop. Besides there were only four people performing. Imagine having to learn this much text. Even worse than Latin vocabulary! After the performance we were allowed to ask the actors and actresses some questions. One of them was, where they got their outfits and props from, and they explained that most of their stuff is second hand! Much better than buying completely new clothes for just one play.

I’m sure you are going to watch one of their plays next year so stay excited!

Dreaming in English”

Last week, we watched the play Dreaming in English. I really enjoyed it because the actors were clear and expressive, making the story easy to follow and engaging.

For those who haven’t seen Dreaming in English, here’s a brief summary of the plot: The story revolves around Lina, a Greek girl who is sent to a language school in England due to her poor English grades. Bored and uninterested, Lina doesn’t pay attention in class and eventually gets expelled. While wandering, she goes to the beach, where she meets Gavin, a hardworking boy from a humble background.

Despite their differences – Lina coming from a wealthy family and Gavin from a poorer one – the two form a connection. Gavin grows fond of Lina and invites her to London to help her navigate and better understand the city.
